Moses & Christ

"The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken...I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him." (Deuteronomy 18: 15, 17-19)

"And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses. And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel." (Deuteronomy 34: 8-12)

There are many ancient prophecies regarding the coming of the Messiah, the Savior of Israel and of the world. The first prophecy was given by Lord God himself, to Adam and Eve immediately after their apostacy and fall into sin, wherein he promised a redeemer and savior, the "seed of the woman," mother Eve, and the one who would destroy the serpent and his seed, and restore to our fallen race that which was lost by transgression. (Genesis 3: 15)

This promise was written in the very first ancient sign in the zodiac, originally written by Adam, Seth, Enoch, and the first prophets and believers in the gospel.

The constellation of Virgo, with her royal son, Coma ("the Desired One"), proclaims this ancient divine promise respecting the coming of Messiah, who is called the "Desired One," or the "Desire of All Nations." (Haggai 2: 7; Daniel 11: 37)

Not only was Christ announced as the "seed of the woman," and the "desire of women," yea, the "desire of all nations," but also as "Shiloh."

"The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be." (Genesis 49: 10)

The Lord Jesus Christ did come, the one who's prophetic names include that of "Coma," and that of "Desired One," being the one known as "Eve's (Virgo's) Seed," as "Shiloh," and as "That Prophet" (of whom Moses wrote).

When John the Baptist first began to preach and announce the arrival of King Jesus, the people began to ask each each other whether the Baptist was the one spoken of by Moses and the prophets.

"And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No." (John 1: 21)

John the Baptist was the royal proclamator for Heaven's Throne. He was sent before the King to announce his arrival and prepare the people for it.

"Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." (John 1: 45 NIV)

"Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world." (John 6: 14)

"Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet." (John 7: 40)

"And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. " (Luke 17: 15-17)

Christ was recognized by many for who he was; others however were blinded to his person.

"Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner." (Luke 7: 39)

But, the Pharisee erred not knowing that Christ had all knowledge, and did in fact know these things of which he supposed Christ was ignorant. He also erred not knowing that Christ, the Messiah, came for the purpose of saving sinners, and a physician is always in the company of his patients.

Jesus spoke to these unbelievers and said:

"For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" (John 5: 46, 47)

There is no reason for anyone who believes the Old Testament, whether Jew or Muslim, not to believe in Jesus Christ and the message of the New Testament. Christ is clearly the fulfilment of what was written afore by Moses and the prophets. If we profess to believe Moses, we will believe in Jesus, for he is "That Prophet."

"Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished." (Luke 18: 31)

"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself...And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me." (Luke 24: 27, 44)

The apostles having been fully instructed by the Messiah in the prophecies of the Old Testament, especially respecting him and his work, and respecting the kingdom of heaven, they went out preaching that Jesus was "that prophet," the one whom Moses and all the prophets had promised would come.

"For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people." (Acts 3: 22, 23)

"This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush...This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear." (Acts 7: 35, 37)

They constantly repeated these words to all believers in Moses and the Hebrew prophets - "...saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come." (Acts 26: 22)

The Apostle Paul spent his life attempting to persuade such Old Testament believers that Jesus was the one, always "expounding and testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening." (Acts 28: 23) He wrote the following in an attempt to show how Jesus is truly "like" Moses, and also how Moses is unlike the Christ, being his inferior.

"Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (Hebrews 3: 1-6)

Moses was a prophet, priest, and king of the Israelites. He is the greatest picture of Christ in all the Old Testament. Christ is like Moses, yet superior, for he is the greatest prophet, priest, and king.

Messiah's "house"! The "house of Israel" and the "house of David." Every believer in Jesus is a member of the royal house of the Messiah and an heir of that kingdom that was promised from ancient times. Will you be one who rejects Jesus as the Messiah or will you be one who believes on him to life everlasting?
